These terms cover your use of Second Cast. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

What Second Cast is

Second Cast helps people learn to fish: species guides, lessons, gear notes, and a map of spots worth a cast. It is an educational and informational service. It is still being built and is currently in private beta, so features may change, break, or disappear.

Fishing is your responsibility

The information here is general guidance, not professional, legal, or safety advice. Fishing carries real risks, including deep water, weather, boats, and wildlife. You are responsible for your own safety and for the safety of anyone with you.

Always check your state’s current regulations and license requirements before you fish. Seasons, limits, and access rules change, and they are set by your local authorities, not by us. Where a spot sits on private land or restricted water, it is on you to have permission and to follow posted rules.

Your account

Most of Second Cast is free to read without an account. An account is only needed to publish content. If you have one, you are responsible for what happens under it, and you agree to give accurate information and to keep your sign-in secure. We may suspend or remove accounts that abuse the service.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• break the law or infringe anyone’s rights while using the site;
• scrape, copy, or republish the content in bulk without our permission;
• try to break, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the site or its data;
• upload anything harmful, misleading, or that is not yours to share.

Affiliate links and third-party sites

Some gear links are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. We link to other sites we do not control, including retailers and map providers. We are not responsible for their content, products, or practices, and following those links is at your own risk.

Content and intellectual property

The guides, lessons, text, and design of Second Cast belong to Second Cast or its licensors, and are protected by law. You may use the site for your own personal, non-commercial fishing. If you publish content to the site as a contributor, you grant us permission to host, display, and edit that content as part of running the service.

No warranty

Second Castis provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We do not promise the site will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, or error-free. Fishing conditions, spot data, and regulations can be wrong or out of date, and you should verify anything that matters before acting on it.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Second Cast is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss or injury, arising out of your use of Second Cast or your reliance on anything you find here.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. When we do, we will update the “last updated” date above. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
